issues for a windows forms application. This easy application
installation mechanism overcomes major issues inherent in deployment
like assurance to run the application in offline mode, ensuring
integrity of application while downloading different versions of the
same application ect.
Any Windows Forms or console
application published using ClickOnce technology is referred to as
ClickOnce Application. Windows forms application can be published with
options to deploy the application onto any of the following locations:
File System, Local Web Server, FTP Site, or a Remote Web Site. User can
install a ClickOnce application and run locally even when the computer
is offline or it can be run in an online-only more without permanently
installing anything on the end user’s computer. When the application is
launched again, it reads the deployment manifest, which will contain
all the information to go to the source location and check for updates
to the original application. For instance, a newer version of the
application is available; it will be automatically downloaded and made
available to the user. New version download is performed in a
transacted manner meaning that either the entire update is downloaded
or nothing is downloaded. This will ensure that the application
integrity is preserved.
